08/28/2010 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago White Sox have placed reliever Erick Threets on the 15-day disabled list with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
The left-hander allowed just one unearned run in 11 appearances over 12 1/3 innings since having his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte in late June. He was also sidelined earlier this month with turf toe.
It's expected he will undergo Tommy John surgery in the near future after suffering the injury during Friday's game versus the Yankees.
To fill the spot on the roster, Chicago recalled pitcher Carlos Torres from Charlotte. Torres, a right-hander, was 9-9 with a 3.52 earned-run average in 26 games (24 starts) with the Triple-A affiliate.
